May Event - Strange Bedfellows

It was a fantastic night on May Day with strange stories – and some wonderfully shocked reactions!

Thanks to fantastic reader Ali van Reeken who kept me in her thrall even though I knew the story of The Lottery!

Greg McNeill does the best New York accents – and his own notes for the story The Tax Man included the word “Attack”. He did it with avengeance! He also plays a mean guitar and loves Paul Kelly songs.

Here’s the stories we read:

New Wife by Mark Trainer winner of the Jeffrey Archer Presents… Short Story Competition

The Lottery by Shirley Jackson

Pygmalion by John Updike

The Tax Man by Bruce J Friedman (New Yorker, 1948)

Wedding Vows by Jennifer Spyra (New Yorker, 2018
